Be mindful. Stay safe. Empowering cybersecurity awareness in the age of AI deception

Abstract

Rosanna Cramarossa Norman (GÉANT) presented the 2025 GÉANT cybersecurity awareness campaign, built around a simple but powerful idea: digital mindfulness is the first line of defence. Rather than trying to "fix" people through fear, the campaign aims to empower users to pause and think critically in an era where AI makes phishing, deepfakes, and voice cloning frighteningly convincing. The core message is that the tricks haven't changed, only the tools have. The campaign reached 9 NRENs, was translated into 7 languages, generated 201K LinkedIn impressions, and earned 90% positive feedback from webinar participants. This presentation was delivered at the SIG-Marcomms side meeting at TNC26 in Helsinki, Finland.
