This public biographical note discusses Vedaji Bhaskar Pant, also spelled Vedoji Pant or Vedaji Bhaskar Rao Pant, a seventeenth-century Maratha Brahmin commander-administrator associated with Shahaji Bhonsle, the Bijapur Sultanate, the Arni Jagir, Mysore, Srirangapatna, Gingee/Jinji/Jengi, and the later transition to Shivaji’s southern Maratha expansion. The essay combines Arni family and community tradition, A. Vadivelu’s account of the Arni Jagir, C.
