AMETROPIAS: HIPERMETROPIA, MIOPIA E ASTIGMATISMO

Abstract

As ametropias são erros refrativos nos quais a imagem de um objeto ao infinito não se forma sobre a retina com a acomodação em repouso. Classificam-se em simétricas (hipermetropia e miopia), assimétricas (astigmatismos), simples, patológicas e axiais. A hipermetropia forma o foco atrás da retina e pode ser compensada pela acomodação, especialmente em jovens. A miopia, ametropia de maior prevalência mundial, foca antes da retina e exige estratégias ativas de controle. O astigmatismo resulta da diferença de poder refrativo entre meridianos perpendiculares, gerando um conóide de Sturm em vez de foco pontual. O domínio dessas condições é indispensável para o correto diagnóstico e conduta optométrica. Palavras-chave: ametropias; miopia; astigmatismo.
