
The present deliverable documents the outcomes of Task 2.2 of the GO-Forward project, which aimed to develop and compare open-source Stratigraphic Forward Modelling (SFM) tools with the commercial software DionisosFlow, while also evaluating data assimilation and calibration capabilities for application in geothermal reservoir modelling. Work Package (WP) 2 serves as the methodological foundation for the GO-Forward project. The primary objective of Task 2.2 was the development of fast, surrogate-based open-source SFM codes capable of reproducing facies distributions in 2D and 3D across continental and marine, siliciclastic and carbonate depositional environments at regional scales. A key emphasis was placed on computational performance and simplified user interaction to facilitate data assimilation and calibration against data-rich datasets. The commercial software DionisosFlow served as the benchmark for comparison, in line with its planned utilisation in Task 3.1 for regional-scale modelling.
