Abstract

ABSTRACT Anatomical variations can be described as modifications to the usual morphology of thehuman body, many of which go unnoticed and others are discovered as incidental findingsduring cadaver dissections or imaging studies. With regard to the brachial plexus and itsbranches, While many variations lack clinical significance, others impact surgical approachesand are not of major importance, others connote a no velty with regard to their surgicaland/or anesthetic approach and the presence of compressive neurovascular pathologies.During routine dissection of an adult male cadaver, we identified communication was foundof the musculocutaneous nerve (MCN) towards the median, in addition the MCN had avariant in its path.In relation to the aforementioned, we consider that brachial plexus injuries have a highfrequency and some of these entail great morbidity and as we observe in this report, avariant in the path of the musculocutaneous nerve can bring with it the possibility that it beinjured in various traumas, for the latter it is of utmost importance to be able to identify andtake into account the different anatomical variations not only in this nerve but also in theothers.Keywords: Brachial plexus,anatomical variation, nerve transfer
