The Poetics of Appetite: A Practice-Based Investigation of Language in an Ice Cream Menu

Abstract

Studies in Everyday Poetics — Research Paper No. 001. This paper investigates the poetic mechanisms present within commercial ice cream menu language. Through close reading, linguistic analysis, and the creation of a found poem composed exclusively from menu text, the study explores lexical compression, sensory imagery, sound patterning, and rhetorical strategies that contribute to consumer engagement.
