Leucon antarcticus Zimmer, 1907Syntype.Southern Ocean • ♀; Winterstation [Kaiser Wilhelm-II-Land, Winter-Station], Deutsche Südpolar-Expedition 1901–1903 exped., RV Gauss, stat. Winterstation [66°02'S, 89°38'E; 385 m depth]; 17 December 1902; Johann Georg Pfeffer leg.; ZMH -K-016060.Remarks.Băcescu (1988) reported syntypes (juv. + ♀ + ♂) deposited at ZMH (ZMB 18341). We confirmed the presence of this lot in the ZMB Crustacea Collection (personal communication from Antje Schwiering and Kristina von Rintelen, ZMB), which is registered as unspecified type. Zimmer’s (1907) original description did not explicitly designate a holotype or paratypes, nor did he mention the number of specimens he examined; therefore, specimens from the Hamburg and Berlin museums are listed here as syntypes.Diagnosis.Juvenile ♀ slender. Carapace with denticulate carina from front to hind margin, but last 2 denticles separated by a smooth space from the rest; pseudorostral lobes much extended to apex in dorsal view very acute; antero-lateral corners preceded by a broad deep sinus; eye lobe obscurely present, the frontal lobe having a pair of lateral denticles in front and a sublateral pair to the rear, the pseudorostral lobes also having a pair close to the front pair of the frontal lobe. Antenna 1, accessory flagellum uni-articulated, as long as article 1 of main flagellum. Uropod, peduncle shorter than the rami; exopod slightly shorter than endopod, endopod medial margin of first article with 9 spines, second article with 3 and an apical spine (after Stebbing 1913).Distribution.Southern Ocean, 69–752 m depth (Băcescu 1988).
