This dataset investigates smart tourism competence among three stakeholder groups in Bangladesh: (a) undergraduate and graduate students studying tourism, business management, economics, and related disciplines; (b) tourism professionals employed in tourism-related organizations and service providers; and (c) university teachers from public and private higher education institutions. Data were collected through a structured Google Forms questionnaire after obtaining informed consent from all participants, who were informed that their anonymous responses would be used for research purposes and shared on an open platform. The dataset comprises responses from 369 participants, including 283 students and tourism professionals and 86 university teachers. The student and professional group had an average age of 25.05 years, with 71.7% being students and the remainder working as tourism professionals. The teacher respondents represented universities across Bangladesh and provided information regarding their educational background, disciplinary specialization, and curriculum integration of smart tourism and sustainability topics. The survey collected demographic information, educational background, gender, interest in smart tourism-related courses, and willingness to participate in further research activities. The dataset offers valuable insights into current smart tourism competencies, educational preparedness, and perceived gaps in smart tourism and sustainability education within Bangladesh's tourism sector.
