This article explores the relationship between Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and intercultural communication in modern foreign language education. The study examines how communicative competence extends beyond linguistic knowledge to include intercultural awareness, sociocultural understanding, and effective interaction across cultures. The article discusses the theoretical foundations of CLT, the role of intercultural competence in language learning, and the importance of integrating cultural dimensions into communicative teaching practices. Furthermore, the research highlights the challenges and benefits of implementing intercultural approaches in language classrooms. The study concludes that conceptualising CLT in terms of intercultural communication enhances learners’ communicative abilities and prepares them for successful participation in a globalized world.
