NetLogo models and dataset accompanying "Demonstrating limitations of area-restricted search as a foraging mechanism", published in Oikos

Abstract

This repository contains the NetLogo code used for the spatially explicit individual-based simulation model described in the manuscript "Demonstrating limitations of area-restricted search as a foraging mechanism." The model compares area-restricted search (ARS) with continuous movement rules of varying tortuosity and examines three potential limitations of ARS: self-generated clustering of remaining prey, unproductive localized search triggered by isolated prey encounters, and increased variability in foraging outcomes. The models were developed in NetLogo 6.4.0. A README file describes the simulation files and how to run them.
