Data Recovery Software Benchmark 2026 — 8-tool study (160 test sessions)

Abstract

Reproducible benchmark of 8 leading data recovery software tools across four common data loss scenarios. 160 test sessions (5 runs × 4 scenarios × 8 tools), measuring recovery rate, file integrity (MD5), scan duration, RAM.Tools: EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard 17.2, Recuva 1.53.2096, Disk Drill 5.4, Stellar Data Recovery 11.5, R-Studio 9.4, TestDisk 7.2, PhotoRec 7.2, Wondershare Recoverit 12.5.Scenarios: A — Shift+Delete (SSD TRIM off); B — NTFS quick format; C — exFAT full format; D — Partition deleted via diskpart clean.Findings: R-Studio highest precision (91.3% recovery, 95.5% integrity). EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard tops 3 of 4 scenarios for consumer use. TestDisk+PhotoRec free combo covers 85% of cases. Double-blind scoring to mitigate affiliate bias (Save My Disk is EaseUS affiliate via CJ).Full methodology + raw scan logs at save-my-disk.com.
