The Trilogy of Constraints Faced by Agro Startups/ MSMEs and SWOT(C) Analysis of the Food/Agro-Processing Units in Dindigul District, Tamilnadu

Abstract

ABSTRACT India's food/agro-processing landscape is heavily dominated by small-scale and cottage industries, which serve as a critical pillar for the country's rural economy. These unorganized units generate substantial employment, making their growth essential for national development and progress. India is one of the most populous nations in the world, with approximately 70% plus of its population relying directly on agriculture for their livelihoods being an agrarian economy. This heavy reliance on farming creates significant economic vulnerabilities in rural areas, leading to severe structural challenges. It is imperative in developing small-scale food/agro-processing enterprises is the best way to fix rural unemployment, unequal regional/rural growth, and wealth gaps that farming alone cannot resolve. Detailed in-depth review of the available literatures (online/off-line) with reference to agro/food processing industry, industrial development, and entrepreneurial development are presented here. The case study conducted by the author in Dindigul District has provided valuable insights for the food/agro processing industries. This paper delineates salient features of Trilogy of constraints faced by Food/Agro Processing start-ups/MSMEs and has also provide SWOT(C) Analysis. Lucid visual presentation with conceptual illustration provides more insights in to the constraints faced by food & agro-processing units along with strategic interventions framework. Key words: Food/Agro Processing Units, Trilogy of Constraints, SWOT(C) Analysis, Taxonomy of Financial, Technology, and Marketing Barriers/Problems.
