
The present study was conducted on 150 male adolescents ofPatna to examine their mental health status as well as lifesatisfaction in context of sex-role orientation. It was hypothesizedthat the androgynous and sex-typed respondents would differsignificantly from one another in terms of (i) mental health status and(ii) life satisfaction. For the purpose, Bem's Sex role OrientationInventory, Kumar and Thakur's Mental Health Status Inventory and Alam's & Srivastava's LS Scale were used to measure Sex role orientation, mental health status and life-satisfaction of respondents.Besides, a PDS was used to get other necessary information aboutthe respondents. The data obtained based on manuals were analysedusing chi-square. The results confirmed the hypotheses. Theandrogynous respondents excelled over their sex-typed respondentsin terms of possessing sound mental health and high life satisfaction.It was concluded that androgynity is conducive to sound mentalhealth and high life satisfaction.
