Opacity as an Emergent Property: From Natural to Artificial Systems

Opacity as an Emergent Property: From Natural to Artificial Systems

Abstract

This paper examines opacity as an emergent property of complex systems — not as a moral decision or corporate strategy, but as a structural condition of coherence. Drawing on convergent evidence from biological, thermodynamic, social, and technological systems, the paper argues that any system that persists over time deliberately regulates its revelation gradient. The Dynamic Coherence Model (DCM) is presented as an operational formalization of that principle: Ω = V/(M+I), where V is verifiable revelation, M is overprotection, and I is managed uncertainty. Fifth preprint in the author's independent series. Available in Spanish and English. Available at carlosravello.com
