
Il contributo presenta un approccio automatizzato per il restauro testuale dei papiri di Ercolano basato su modelli linguistici di tipo Transformer. L’integrazione dell’intelligenza artificiale nella piattaforma CoPhiEditor tramite API RESTful abilita un workflow collaborativo in cui i suggerimenti automatici di supplementi testuali supportano, senza sostituirla, la discussione filologica. L’approccio propone una filologia assistita da tecnologie di AI generativa che bilancia analisi computazionale e controllo editoriale umano, ponendo particolare attenzione alla sostenibilità tecnologica dell’edizione scientifica digitale.
This paper presents an automated approach for the text restoration of the Herculaneum papyri based on Transformer-based language models. The integration of artificial intelligence into the CoPhiEditor platform via RESTful APIs enables a collaborative workflow where automatic suggestions for textual supplements support, rather than replace, philological discussion. The approach proposes a philology assisted by generative AI technologies that balances computational analysis and human editorial control, with a focus on the technological sustainability of digital scholarly editions.
