Open Science and Research Data Management Practices in Latvia

Abstract

This report presents a study analyzing Latvian researchers’ understanding, skills, and practices in the fields of open science and research data management, with particular attention devoted to the data lifecycle. The empirical research was conducted within the framework of the project “Support for the Implementation of Open Science in Practice, as well as the Development of Solutions for Scientific Data Sharing and Participation in the European Open Science Cloud” (2.1.3.1.i.0/2/23/I/CFLA/002). The study surveyed researchers and doctoral students from Latvian higher education and research institutions. A total of 272 researchers fully completed the survey questionnaire, while an additional 155 respondents started the survey but did not complete it. The results of the study highlight the need to strengthen researchers’ competencies in research data management, further develop institutional support, and promote the implementation of FAIR principles within the Latvian research ecosystem. The report is published in Latvian. The study dataset is available in the DataverseLV data repository. Aptaujas rezultātu ziņojums pētījumam, kurā analizēta Latvijas pētnieku izpratne, prasmes un prakse atvērtās zinātnes un pētniecības datu pārvaldības jomā, īpašu uzmanību pievēršot datu dzīves ciklam. Empīriskā izpēte veikta projekta “Atbalsts atvērtās zinātnes ieviešanai praksē, kā arī izveidoti risinājumi zinātnes datu koplietošanai un dalībai ES atvērtajā zinātnes mākonī” (2.1.3.1.i.0/2/23/I/CFLA/002) ietvaros, aptaujājot Latvijas augstskolu un pētniecības institūciju pētniekus un doktorantus. Aptaujas anketu pilnībā aizpildīja 272 pētnieki, savukārt vēl 155 respondenti aptauju iesāka, bet nepabeidza. Pētījuma rezultāti aktualizē nepieciešamību stiprināt pētnieku kompetences datu pārvaldībā, attīstīt institucionālo atbalstu un veicināt FAIR principu ieviešanu Latvijas zinātnē. Ziņojums ir publicēts latviešu valodā. Pētījuma datu kopa ir pieejama DataverseLV datu repozitorijā.
