Abstract

Esta investigación evaluó la eficiencia de tres métodos de almacenamiento sobre la conservación de semillas comerciales de estropajo (Luffa cylindrica L.), analizando la viabilidad celular tras tres meses mediante la prueba bioquímica de tetrazolio (TZ) al 1%. Se empleó un Diseño Completamente al Azar (DCA) con tres tratamientos y cuatro réplicas: Tratamiento A (Testigo sin desecante), Tratamiento B (Gel de sílice comercial, proporción 1:1 peso/peso) y Tratamiento C (Arroz tostado artesanal, proporción 1:2 peso/peso). Las semillas fueron acondicionadas mediante secado gravimétrico en estufa hasta alcanzar humedades óptimas de base húmeda (11.32% y 10.41%) y resguardadas bajo refrigeración hermética. A los tres meses de almacenamiento, el uso de arroz tostado (Tratamiento C) retuvo la mayor viabilidad celular promedio con 64.99%, seguido por el gel de sílice (46.66%), mientras que el testigo decayó drásticamente a un 38.32%. Se concluye que el arroz tostado constituye una ecotecnología artesanal, de bajo costo y alta eficiencia para la preservación de germoplasma ortodoxo.
