Abstract In the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence and distributed cognition, traditional knowledge systems often struggle to manage dynamic, cross-disciplinary knowledge. Cognitive Memoisation (CM) offers an innovative framework for knowledge sharing, addressing these challenges by externalising meaning and supporting round-trip knowledge engineering. CM allows knowledge to be shared and evolved over time, enabling human with machine systems to collaboratively adapt and extend knowledge without being constrained by rigid schemas or ontologies. Continuity is provided by externalisation: CM-1: Externalises CM-artefacts to make meaning durable and re-addressable. CM-2: Externalises Epistemic Objects (EO) to make meaning itself portable across contexts.
