Diseño visual como competencia profesional docente

Abstract

El diseño visual de recursos didácticos es una dimensión del trabajo docente que raramente se aborda como competencia profesional explícita en la formación inicial. Este artículo presenta los fundamentos teóricos y la descripción metodológica de un ebook de diseño visual desarrollado para docentes en formación de Educación General Básica en la Escuela de Educación del Campus Los Ángeles, Universidad de Concepción. La propuesta articula tres planos conceptuales: una comprensión histórica del diseño gráfico moderno como disciplina con principios sólidos de composición y legibilidad; una comprensión pedagógica del recurso visual como mediación de aprendizaje, accesibilidad e inclusión, informada por el Diseño Universal para el Aprendizaje versión 3.0 (CAST, 2024); y una comprensión crítica del uso de herramientas de inteligencia artificial (IA) generativa en la producción de materiales educativos visuales (UNESCO, 2023). Se describe la estructura del ebook, sus estrategias didácticas, sus propuestas de actividades y desafíos multimodales para distintos niveles de EGB, y sus criterios de accesibilidad e inclusión. Se concluye que la competencia visual docente, lejos de ser un complemento estético, es una dimensión central del conocimiento pedagógico del contenido y una condición de la educación inclusiva y equitativa.
