Abstract

La toxoplasmosis es una parasitosis de relevancia clínica y en salud pública, particularmente durante el periodo gestacional. En Colombia se han descrito seroprevalencias de IgG de hasta un 77%, siendo la ruralidad y las actividades agrícolas algunos de los factores asociados a la seroconversión. A pesar de su impacto clínico y epidemiológico, la toxoplasmosis es un proceso infeccioso subestimado, y no es de reporte obligatorio. Objetivo: Determinar la seroprevalencia de IgG Anti-Toxoplasma y factores asociados a la seropositividad, en mujeres gestantes atendidas en centros hospitalarios de Medellín durante el periodo 2018 a 2020. Metodología: Se analizaron poblaciones de gestantes de alto riesgo obstétrico atendidas en la Clínica Universitaria Bolivariana (CUB) (n=517) y de la E.S.E Metrosalud (n=1202). Se recolectaron datos sociodemográficos, clínicos y valores de IgG anti-Toxoplasma. Se realizaron pruebas de asociación entre variables y se aplicó chi cuadrado (IC=95%, p≤0.05). Resultados: Se encontraron seroprevalencias del 53.32% y 44.11%, y asociaciones estadísticamente significativas entre el tipo de residencia rural y la seropositividad (p=0.011 y p=0.000, respectivamente). Las seroprevalencias más altas en el área metropolitana del valle de Aburrá se registraron en las zonas nororiental, centro-occidental, y en los corregimientos de Medellín. Conclusiones: Se encontró una asociación significativa entre la seropositividad y la ruralidad, especialmente en zonas de Medellín con acceso limitado a atención en salud y a servicios básicos, factores determinantes para la infección por Toxoplasma gondii.
