Computed daily values of McArthur Forest Fire Danger Index (FFDI) for Australia from 20CRv3

Abstract

These daily values of the McArthur Forest Fire Danger Index (FFDI) for Australia are calculated from bias-corrected daily 20CRv3 data on maximum temperature, rainfall, relative humidity, and wind speed at a spatial resolution of 0.05 degrees by 0.05 degrees. Further details about the dataset are listed as follows: Spatial Resolution: 0.05° X 0.05° Temporal Resolution: Daily Date Range: 1st January 1836 to 31st December 2015 Source Data: 20th Century Version 3 Ensembles used: 3, 7, 11, 13, 43 Fill Value: -9999 Bias Correction method used on the daily climatic variables: Quantile-Quantile (QQ) matching using Monotone Piecewise Hermite Cubic Spline Interpolation technique used to resample 20CRv3 variables: Biliniear Areas masked with fill value: Ocean region outside Australia Outlier values below the lower limit Outlier values above the upper limit Datatype: float32 Variable Unit Lower Limit Upper Limit Filename Forest Fire Danger Index unitless 0 300 FFDI_{year}.nc Biswas S, Chand SS, Dowdy AJ, Wright W, Foale C, Zhao X, Deo A (2022) Statistical Calibration of Long-Term Reanalysis Data for Australian Fire Weather Conditions.
