[OME2026] OME-Zarr with Sharding, Collections and Zips

Abstract

In this talk, I outline recent developments in RFCs for OME-Zarr. I begin with an update on the implementation of RFC-2, focusing in particular on the availability of sharding support. I then introduce the motivation, design, and implementation of collections as defined in RFC-8. Finally, I outline RFC-9, which formalizes ZIP-based storage for OME-Zarr to improve user experience.
