Hymenoptera Family Matrix — Open Dataset

Hymenoptera Family Matrix — Open Dataset

Abstract

A taxonomic skeleton of order Hymenoptera at family level (with subfamily and tribe context), cross-referenced with GBIF taxon keys and English and Czech common names. The dataset covers 352 taxa: 2 suborders, 2 infraorders, 26 superfamilies, 98 families, 179 subfamilies, and 45 tribes, structured across 13 columns. GBIF_ID is provided for all 98 families and verified against the GBIF Backbone Taxonomy (v1.2). English common names are available for 92% of taxa; Czech names for suborders, infraorders, and 24 families. Taxonomy follows Aguiar et al. (2013), Zhang (2025), GBIF Backbone Taxonomy, and family-specific revisions (see references.bib). Note: Pteromalidae is treated as a single family (pre-Burks et al. 2022 split). This is the first public release of an ongoing project — future versions will add morphological, ecological, and identification data. Files: Hymenoptera_Family_Matrix.xlsx (5 sheets: README, LICENSE_CITATION, Matrix, References, Changelog), matrix.csv (machine-readable UTF-8 CSV), references.bib (BibTeX bibliography).
