Traditional Chinese Medicine Acrolein-Containing Herbs for Herpes Simplex Prevention

Abstract

ChEMBL data shows acrolein targets TRPA1 channels (pChEMBL: 5.30), which Open Targets associates with herpes (0.50 evidence score). Acrolein is found in traditional burning herbs used in Chinese medicine for 'heat-clearing' conditions. The compound could provide prophylactic TRPA1 modulation to prevent herpes simplex reactivation, particularly in patients with frequent recurrences.
