Curcuma longa Ar-Turmerone for Blood-Brain Barrier 2-HG Transport

Abstract

Ar-turmerone from turmeric essential oil modulates organic anion transporters OAT1 and OAT3 to enhance 2-hydroxyglutarate efflux from brain tissue while simultaneously inhibiting monocarboxylate transporter-mediated re-uptake. This creates a favorable gradient for 2-HG clearance from the CNS compartment.
