Repurposed Tadalafil-Rapamycin Combination for Penile Tissue Engineering

Abstract

Tadalafil (PDE5 inhibitor) increases cGMP levels enhancing VEGFA expression, while low-dose rapamycin inhibits mTORC1 promoting autophagy-mediated stem cell maintenance. Combined therapy enhances angiogenesis via PECAM1+ endothelial cell proliferation and maintains stemness of tissue-engineered penile constructs.
