Astragalus membranaceus Saponins for ATP1A1 Na+/K+-ATPase Enhancement

Abstract

Astragaloside IV and cycloastragenol from Astragalus specifically upregulate ATP1A1 α-subunit expression via Nrf2-mediated transcription, enhancing basolateral Na+/K+-ATPase activity. This improves electrochemical gradient for apical H+ secretion while astragalus polysaccharides reduce inflammatory cytokine-mediated downregulation of acid-base transporters.
