Abstract

La hipersensibilidad dentinaria se define como un dolor agudo y de corta duración que se presenta con algún estímulo en la dentina expuesta y que no está relacionado a alguna otra afección dental (diente fisurado, enfermedad periodontal, sobrecarga oclusal). Afecta a entre el 8-57% de la población mundial en general (Brännstrom M 1967, Ahmed TR 2005, Pinto SCS 2010). Uno de los factores predisponentes para que exista hipersensibilidad es la exposición dentinaria presente en lesiones no cariosas, exposiciones radiculares, fracturas dentales y en la preparación dental para una restauración indirecta.
