Abstract

Was muss sich ändern, damit Medien die Demokratie bestmöglich unterstützen? Mit dieser Frage haben sich die „Bürger*innenräte Medien und Demokratie“ im Frühjahr 2025 in Österreich, Irland, Slowenien und Tschechien im Rahmen des europäischen Forschungsprojekts MeDeMAP auseinandergesetzt. In einem ko-kreativen Prozess haben die teilnehmenden Bürger*innen in den einzelnen Ländern über ihre Vorstellungen und Ansprüche an Medien und Demokratie diskutiert und gemeinsam eine Reihe von Resolutionen erarbeitet und beschlossen. Das Community Medien Institut COMMIT, das für die Konzeption und Koordination der europäischen Bürger*innenräte und für die Ausrichtung des Bürger*innenrats in Österreich verantwortlich war, beleuchtet im folgenden Artikel die Momente des Lernens, die im Prozess der demokratischen Partizipation und Politikgestaltung in den Bürger*innenräten stattfanden, und fragt, was die politische Erwachsenenbildung aus den Erfahrungen des Bürger*innenrats Medien und Demokratie lernen kann.
