ASSISTÊNCIA DE ENFERMAGEM VOLTADAS A CRIANÇAS COM TRANSTORNO DO ESPECTRO AUTISTA E O ENFRENTAMENTO DE DESAFIOS NA ATENÇÃO PRIMÁRIA À SAÚDE: revisão integrativa

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is characterized as a neurodevelopmental condition that impairs communication, social interaction, and behavior, predominantly manifesting in childhood. In this context, Primary Health Care plays a fundamental role in the early identification and monitoring of these children, with nursing standing out as one of the main pillars of care. This study sought to analyze nursing care provided to children with ASD and the challenges faced in this care within the scope of primary health care. This is an integrative literature review, with a qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory approach, conducted in the SciELO, PubMed, and LILACS databases. Initially, 245 studies were identified, of which 14 met the established inclusion criteria and comprised the final sample. The results showed that nursing plays a strategic role in the early identification of the disorder, in family support, and in the promotion of humanized care. However, relevant challenges were highlighted, such as insufficient professional training, the absence of well-defined care protocols, structural limitations in health services, and weaknesses in the articulation of the care network. It is concluded that strengthening nursing care for children with ASD requires investments in continuing education, organization of health services, and expansion of scientific production, aiming at improving the quality of care and the quality of life of these children and their families.
