Abstract

L’aspect du sujet abordé dans cette étude. Aucune étude n’avait encore quantifié la dysménorrhée primaire à Garoua, ni évalué son retentissement sur la vie quotidienne et la scolarité des adolescentes. Cette étude a examiné 495 adolescentes scolarisées dans six établissements secondaires. Ce que cette étude apporte de nouveau. La prévalence atteint 86,5 % (428 cas sur 495). Plus d’une adolescente sur deux (50,5 %) s’est absentée de l’école à cause des règles douloureuses. La qualité de vie est modérément à sévèrement altérée chez 69,4 % des filles. L’antécédent familial multiplie par 2,37 le risque de dysménorrhée. Les antalgiques sont utilisés par 90,9 % des filles, mais 39,5 % recourent aussi aux traitements traditionnels.
