THE RIEMANN HYPOTHESIS FROM THE LAW OF EXISTENCE A DERIVATION IN THE RECOGNITION SCIENCE FRAMEWORK

Abstract

We derive the Riemann Hypothesis as a theorem of the Recognition Science (RS) framework. We do not claim, in this paper, a ZFC-only resolution of the Millennium Prize formulation. Rather, we distinguish two notions of unconditionality: internally to RS, where the forcing chain T0–T8 proves the unification of mathematics and physics, RH is unconditional; externally, when the argument is exported to the standard analytic presentation of ζ, one still needs the interface statement identifying zeta zeros as physical ledger events. The argument combines four machine-verified results (Lean 4, no sorry, no custom axioms) with one framework-level identification: (i) The Law of Existence (T1). The canonical cost functional J(x) = 1/2 (x + x⁻¹) − 1, uniquely forced by the Recognition Composition Law, satisfies J(x) → +∞ as x → 0⁺. Physical recognition events on the ledger must have bounded T1 defect. (ii) Annular coercivity. A hypothetical zero of ζ with charge m ≠ 0 forces annular recognition cost to grow as Θ(m² log N), driving the cost scalar λN = 1/(1 + annularCostN) toward 0 and its T1 defect toward infinity. (iii) The ontological dichotomy. An unconditional Lean 4 theorem: charge(s) = 0 if and only if the T1 defect of λN(s) is uniformly bounded. (iv) The RS identification (framework). In RS, the primes are fundamental recognition events and the Euler product ζ(s) = ∏p(1 − p⁻ˢ)⁻¹ is the arithmetic ledger balance equation. Zeros of ζ in 1/2 < Re(s) < 1 are topological defects on this ledger and must satisfy T1. Mathematics is not merely a language for physics; under Recognition Geometry, the arithmetic ledger is itself a measurement of reality. By T1, physical ledger entries have bounded defect. By the dichotomy, bounded defect forces charge 0. Therefore no off-critical-line zeros exist. The RS framework is supported by independent physical predictions: the forcing chain T0–T8 derives logic, existence, discreteness, the ledger, φ, the 8-tick cycle, and D = 3 from the cost functional alone, all proved in Lean 4 and published in Axioms (MDPI). RH emerges as a consequence of the framework, not something it was built to produce. If a zero of ζ were found off the critical line, RS would be falsified.
