Abstract

The Lunar Ribus Database (Academic Release) is a global catalogue of lunar summits with topographic prominence ≥1 km, derived from the highest‑resolution global and regional digital elevation models currently available. It is provided as a CSV file containing one record per summit, comprising summit and key col geographic coordinates, elevations for both the summit and its key col (relative to the global minimum), and computed topographic prominence, using the divide‑tree algorithm of Andrew Kirmse (mountains). Summits with prominence ≥1 km, termed Ribus (from the Indonesian and Malay word ribu, meaning “thousand”), provide a formal measure of morphometric independence on the Moon. By linking each summit to its key col, the catalogue establishes a globally consistent hierarchy of kilometre‑scale positive‑relief landforms on the Moon, enabling terrain segmentation, analysis of impact‑ and volcanism‑related edifices, and comparative prominence‑based morphometry across planetary bodies.
