Tomorrow's Raft Isn't Yesterday's: The Starship Enterprise Encounters a Lipid Raft

Abstract

CAPTAIN’S LOGStardate 2702.24. The Enterprise is charting an unremarkable region of hypothesis space where the metaphors are heavily lipidated. We have been assured, repeatedly, that nothing here can possibly surprise us; the manuals say the “rafts” are well understood, the diagnostics are standard, and the terminology is perfectly stable.
