Wozu lernen, wenn KI alles weiß? - Positionspapier zur Bildung im KI-Zeitalter

Abstract

Artificial intelligence is calling the very purpose of education into question. Students are wondering what value learning - or higher education in general - still holds when knowledge is available at the touch of a button. Educators are asking themselves what content they can use to make a meaningful contribution to learners’ development, and educational institutions must confront the question of their right to exist. The danger that the education system will be disrupted before it has found answers is real. This would only be problematic if the disruption of learning and education were to result in the loss of something that remains significant even in the AI era. Citing recent research findings, the paper argues that what is at stake here are the very abilities of thinking and learning themselves. It discusses the need for a new vision for education in the AI era and proposes steps toward achieving it.
