Tato studie z roku 2026, vypracovaná Národním vzdělávacím fondem, analyzuje zkušenosti držitelů prestižních ERC grantů se zaměřením na srovnání České republiky a vědecky nejúspěšnějších evropských zemí. Text identifikuje klíčové rozdíly v motivaci žadatelů, dostupné institucionální podpoře a bariérách, kterým vědci čelí během přípravy i realizace svých projektů. Zatímco v zahraničí je úspěch vnímán jako přirozená součást kariéry, čeští vědci jej častěji využívají k zajištění stability v systému, který považují za administrativně náročný a podfinancovaný. Výzkum zdůrazňuje, že v Česku chybí silnější zázemí domovských institucí, což žadatelé kompenzují využíváním externích expertů a intenzivní individuální přípravou. Dokument slouží jako analytický podklad pro reformu národního prostředí směrem k větší podpoře excelentního výzkumu a snížení administrativní zátěže. Celkově zjištění apelují na systémové posílení podmínek, které by umožnily rozvoj nezávislých vědeckých osobností v mezinárodním měřítku.Abstract (EN) This 2026 study, prepared by the National Training Fund, analyzes the experiences of recipients of prestigious ERC grants, focusing on a comparison between the Czech Republic and the most scientifically successful European countries. The text identifies key differences in applicants’ motivation, available institutional support, and the barriers researchers face during both the preparation and implementation of their projects. While abroad success is viewed as a natural part of a career, Czech researchers more often use it to secure stability within a system they consider administratively burdensome and underfunded. The research highlights that the Czech Republic lacks a stronger foundation of home institutions, which applicants compensate for by utilizing external experts and intensive individual preparation. The document serves as an analytical basis for reforming the national environment toward greater support for excellent research and a reduction in the administrative burden. Overall, the findings call for systemic improvements to the conditions that would enable the development of independent scientific figures on an international scale.
