Resumo: Trata-se de resgatar a memória do impacto e repercussão que tiveram as primeiras edificações modernas na capital baiana, no imediato pós-guerra, curto período de apenas seis anos, com base em testemunho vivenciado pelo autor deste texto, ocorrência essa simultânea à sua formação profissional universitária no período 1946/1951. Nesse intervalo de tempo a cidade presenciou uma turbulência cultural liderada pelas artes plásticas e nela, tanto a arquitetura quanto o urbanismo marcaram suas presenças. A primeira com um conjunto de edificações significativas, a segunda com estudos relacionados com o planejamento urbano da cidade, sob a responsabilidade do Escritório de Planejamento Urbano de Salvador-EPUCS. Vale lembrar que a Cidade do Salvador na década de 30 presenciou uma renovação arquitetônica peculiar com a construção de edificações que integravam e expressavam as novas tendências de arquitetura cujos pressupostos se aproximavam da linguagem da Bauhaus, na época já bastante difusa. Edificações essas caracterizadas pela exogenia de suas autorias, contrastando com as edificações do período aqui abordado e que tiveram na matriz da "escola carioca" uma expressão mais próxima ao universo lecorbusiano. Na visão do autor, o marco da moderna arquitetura baiana no imediato pós-guerra [1946] é o Edifício Caramuru de autoria do arquiteto carioca Paulo Antunes Ribeiro. O percurso aqui estabelecido terá na construção do Hotel da Bahia [ 1949/1951], do mesmo autor em parceria com o primeiro arquiteto moderno baiano Diógenes Rebouças, outro marco importante da arquitetura moderna produzida na cidade. A esta, se soma um conjunto de outras edificações que procurou testemunhar as transformações econômicas, sociais e culturais ocorridas no após-guerra. Abstract: "Functional Style": Local expression of the movement of modern architecture- Salvador 1946/1951 It is to rescue the memory of the impact and repercussion that had the first modern constructions in the capital from Bahia, in the immediate postwar, short period just six years old, with base in testimony life- giving for the author of this text, occurrence that simultaneous one to its university professional formation in the period 1946/1951. In that interval of time the city witnessed a cultural turbulence led by the plastic arts and in her, so much the architecture as the urbanization marked its presence. The first with a group of significant constructions, Monday with studies related with the urban planning of the city, under the responsibility of the Office of Urban Planning of Salvador - EPUCS. It is worth to remind that the City of Salvador in the decade of 30 witnessed a peculiar architectural renewal with the construction of constructions that you/they integrated and they expressed the new architecture tendencies whose presupposed he/she/it approached of the language of Bauhaus, at that time already quite diffuse. Constructions those characterized by the exogenous of its responsibilities, contrasting here with the constructions of the period approached and that had in the head office of the " school carioca " a closer expression to the universe lecorbusien. In the author's vision, the mark of the modern architecture from Bahia in the immediate postwar [1946] it is the Edifice Charmer of the architect's "carioca" responsibility Paulo Antunes Ribeiro. The course here established he/she will have in the construction of the Hotel of Bahia [1949/1951], of the same author in partnership with the first modern architect from Bahia Diógenes Rebouças, other important mark of the modern architecture produced in the city. To this, a group of another constructions is added that tried to testify the economic, social and cultural transformations happened in him after-war. The expression " functional " style, used by engineers, architects [at that time fortunately few], masters of works and workers of the civil construction in general, in an average language he/she attests a surprising participation level and, also, an attitude that cannot without having understood as a transgression in relation to the traditional form of to project and to build in the colonial city of Salvador.
