Population patterns have shifted steadily since the Industrial Revolution, as more people migrated from rural areas to urban areas (Lee et al., 2023). This imbalance caused by humans has brought many problems with it. One of these is ecological degradation resulting from the uncontrolled use of resources. The increase in raw material consumption also causes an increase in energy consumption. These have a domino effect on the world. The construction sector, one of the main focuses of this article, also plays a key role in energy consumption. According to statistics, the construction sector consumes 30% of global energy consumption and more than 50% of electricity worldwide (Santamouris & Vasilakopoulou, 2021). In consequence of the rapid increase in ecological degradation, the effects of climate change have begun to be felt more globally. In addition to the uncontrolled use of natural resources, the negative effects of non-renewable energy sources on the atmosphere have triggered a series of emergency signals on Earth. Although these signals manifest themselves separately in the air, on land, and in water, every component on Earth has been individually affected by the consequences of climate change, which is the largest domino at the top of the pile.
