Ethical Underpinnings and Governance Models in AI Ethics for African Societies: A Zambian Context

Abstract

AI ethics in African societies, particularly in Zambia, is a nascent field that requires theoretical frameworks to guide research and policy development. Theoretical synthesis drawing from existing literature in AI ethics, data governance, and societal impact studies. The theoretical framework identifies critical areas for further research and policy development to ensure equitable and sustainable use of AI technologies within African societies. Policy makers should integrate ethical frameworks into AI governance models, considering cultural values and societal impacts as core components. Academia and civil society should collaborate on capacity building initiatives to foster informed discourse on AI ethics in Africa.
