ACTUALIZACIÓN DE LOS CUIDADOS DE ENFERMERÍA EN PACIENTES CON ÚLCERAS POR PRESIÓN: REVISIÓN BIBLIOGRÁFICA

Abstract

Article type: Narrative review Introduction: Pressure ulcers constitute a significant health problem, generating high economic and professional costs. The aim of this review is to demonstrate the current state of nursing care for patients with pressure ulcers. Methodology: The search for studies was conducted in PubMed and SciELO. Studies published within the previous year with high methodological quality were included. Results: The seven studies ultimately included were distributed according to their objectives, depending on whether they analyzed current barriers to nursing care for patients with pressure ulcers or future strategies to improve the current situation. Discussion: Caring for patients with pressure ulcers represents a significant physical and psychological challenge for nursing staff. Improving training and providing adequate information on evidence-based practices for pressure ulcer prevention can strengthen their contribution to patient safety. Conclusions: Currently, there are barriers that hinder the care of patients with pressure ulcers, including staffing shortages, time constraints, and lack of training. The need for further research is proposed to improve care for these patients.
