Fatema Mernissi, genre et pouvoir dans les sociétés musulmanes

Abstract

La sociologue marocaine Fatema Mernissi (1940–2015) est l’une des figures majeures des études sur le genre dans le monde musulman. Ses travaux analysent les relations entre religion, pouvoir politique et structures sociales dans les sociétés musulmanes. En combinant une approche sociologique et une analyse critique des sources religieuses, Mernissi montre que les interprétations dominantes des textes islamiques ont été façonnées par des contextes historiques et politiques spécifiques. Cet article examine les principales contributions théoriques de Mernissi à travers cinq axes : la relation entre religion et pouvoir, l’histoire des femmes dans les sociétés musulmanes, le rôle de l’éducation dans l’émancipation féminine, la relation entre tradition et modernité, et la critique des stéréotypes culturels. L’analyse met en évidence la diversité historique des expériences féminines dans les sociétés musulmanes et souligne l’importance d’une réinterprétation critique des traditions religieuses dans les débats contemporains sur l’égalité des sexes.
