The study examines the impact of mini-grids on energy access in West African villages within Ghana, focusing on the period from to . The research employs a qualitative approach, utilising semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, and archival data analysis to explore the experiences of villagers with mini-grids. Villagers reported significant improvements in lighting and basic electrical appliances due to mini-grid installations, leading to enhanced productivity and social activities. The findings suggest that mini-grids have positively impacted energy access by fostering economic growth and improving living standards in the targeted communities. Communities should continue to support mini-grid projects while also exploring additional funding mechanisms for sustainable development.
