Gender, Sport, and Digital Debate: A Raw Dataset of 35,676 Tweets on Imane Khelif at the Paris 2024 Olympics

Abstract

This dataset contains 35,676 tweets mentioning "Imane Khelif" collected via Tweet Binder between 27 July and 10 August 2024, coinciding with the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The dataset captures public discourse on gender identity, fairness, and inclusion in elite sport triggered by the Algerian boxer's participation. Variables include: ID (tweet identifier), UTC Date, post (full text), reposts, likes count, impressions, quotes, replies, and bookmarks. Usernames and permalinks have been removed for privacy purposes. No sentiment labels are included; the raw text is provided to enable independent classification using any NLP method. The dataset supports research on digital polarisation, sentiment analysis, misinformation dynamics, and public opinion formation on social media.
