
This study investigates the impact of the One-Strike Policy on police efficiency in the City of Manila. Implemented as a disciplinary mechanism within the Philippine National Police (PNP), the policy mandates the immediate relief or reassignment of police officers when any member of a station or unit is involved in misconduct. While the policy aims to promote accountability and deter criminal behavior among officers, it also raises concerns about its effects on police morale, credibility, and performance. Through a descriptive research method, this study surveys 240 PNP personnel from 14 police stations in the City of Manila, examining how the policy influences their professional conduct. Findings reveal that while the One-Strike Policy strengthens professional standards and fosters a sense of pride and duty among police officers, it also demoralizes those affected by reassignment or demotion. The study highlights a significant relationship between the policy’s implementation and the officers’ performance ratings, indicating that the policy’s impact on morale and credibility can affect overall efficiency. Based on these insights, the study recommends reassessing the policy's application to ensure fairness and mitigate negative consequences on officers' performance and morale.
