DISTRIBUTION: Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Oman, Réunion, Saint Helena, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, Tanzania, Western Sahara, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe. LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Lusaka and Kafue in Lusaka Province. LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Host plants include: one Combretaceae species (Terminalia catappa L.) in the Réunion (Martiré & Rochat 2008); two Fabaceae species (Bauhinia sp. and Tamarindus sp.) in South Africa (Pinhey 1975); one Fabaceae species (Afzelia africana Pers.) in Ghana (Wagner et al. 2008); and three Euphorbiaceae species (Ricinus sp., Euphorbia systyla Edgew. and Euphorbia sp.), two Myrtaceae species (Eucalyptus sp. and Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehnh.), one Fabaceae species (Lonchocarpus sp.), one Convolvulaceae species (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.) and one Pinaceae species (Pinus radiata D.Don) in unnamed African country or countries (Walsingham & Hampson 1896; Austara & Jones 1971; Hacker & Hausmann 2010). In addition to this, the African Moths (2019) webpage reports four Euphorbiaceae species (Ricinus communis L., Euphorbia crotonoides Boiss., Euphorbia hirta L. and E. scordiifolia Jacq.), one Rosaceae species (Malus pumila Mill.), two Fabaceae species (Pericopsis elata (Harms) Meeuwen and Acacia mearnsii De Wild.) and one Rutaceae species (Citrus sp.) as larval foodplants of this taxon. The wasp species, Enicospilus betanimenus (Saussure) (Ichneumonidae), is reported as a parasitoid of the taxon in Zambabwe (Rousse & van Noort 2014).
