This repository contains the supplementary materials accompanying the manuscript “Compensated Centralization: Host Community Benefits in Renewable Energy Siting” (Moe, 2025). The materials include data, code, and figures used in the mixed-methods analysis of New York State’s Host Community Benefit (HCB) program. The dataset derives from public comments submitted to the New York Public Service Commission (Case 20-E-0249), which were qualitatively coded and analyzed using network analysis to identify shared stakeholder concerns and coalitional patterns. Contents: R_Script — Annotated R script for data processing, co-occurrence projection, Louvain community detection, and centrality analysis (using igraph and ggraph). ThemeCooccurrence_png — Theme-to-theme adjacency matrix used in co-occurrence network analysis. CoalitionNetwork_png — Organization-to-theme edge list used in community detection. CentralityTable.png — Node-level centrality measures (degree, betweenness). Position_and_alliance_mapping.xlsx-- qualitative coding of organizational comments All analyses were conducted in R (v4.3.2). Visualizations were created using igraph, ggraph, and tidygraph packages.
| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 0 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Average | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
