Ice-shelf vibrations modeled by a full 3-D elastic model (Version 9.1)

Authors: Konovalov, Yuri;

Ice-shelf vibrations modeled by a full 3-D elastic model (Version 9.1)

Abstract

This version is an extension of the previous versions 7 and 8. This version presents a model (description and code) describing ice shelf vibrations that takes into account the presence of meltwater lakes on the ice shelf surface. The model is based on depth-integrated momentum equations that describe the elastic flexures of an ice shelf (the depth-integrated momentum equations were developed in version 4). As in previous versions, the subglacial flow of seawater in the cavity is described by the wave equation. Gravity waves on the surface of melt lakes are described by the wave equation for long gravity waves.

Keywords

ice shelf vibrations, ice shelf modeling, elastic models, finite volume models, meltwater lakes
