Abstract

This repository contains model configuration files, processed Total Exchange Flow (TEF) time series, forcing data, and analysis scripts supporting Pinilla and Ross (2026), "Disentangling Physical Forcings Influencing Exchange Flow in a Multi-basin Fjord System: Chiloé Inner Sea, Patagonia" (egusphere-2025-4893, under review at Ocean Science, EGU). The study uses four controlled 3-D MIKE 3 FM simulations of the Chiloé Inner Sea (41-44°S, northern Patagonia, Chile) for 2018, each toggling a different combination of physical forcings (rivers, wind, tides, boundary T-S). TEF metrics (Q_in, deltaS, Q_in*deltaS) are computed hourly at three cross-sections (Reloncaví, Desertores, Corcovado) spanning ~260 km.
