Abstract

Sektor peternakan merupakan salah satu penyumbang emisi gas rumah kaca. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kecamatan Berastagi, Kabupaten Karo, Provinsi Sumatera Utara. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mendapat estimasi besaran jejak karbon dari aktivitas peternakan kuda, mengidentifikasi sumber utama emisi, serta merumuskan rekomendasi pengelolaan yang lebih berkelanjutan. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Kecamatan Berastagi dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif. Analisis jejak karbon dilakukan terhadap empat sumber utama emisi, yaitu konsumsi pakan, pengelolaan kotoran ternak, penggunaan energi, serta aktivitas perawatan dan operasional kandang. Perhitungan emisi dilakukan dengan mengalikan data aktivitas dengan faktor emisi yang merujuk pada pedoman FAO, IPCC, Climate Transparency, GHG Protocol, dan Climatiq. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa total jejak karbon yang dihasilkan dari peternakan kuda di Berastagi mencapai sekitar 60.105 kg CO2-eq per tahun. Kontribusi terbesar berasal dari konsumsi pakan ternak sebesar 53.550 kg CO2-eq, diikuti oleh pengelolaan kotoran 6.515 kg CO2-eq, penggunaan listrik 39,57 kg CO2-eq dan aktivitas transportasi 0,572 kg CO2-eq. Karbon hasil konsumsi pakan dan pengelolaan kotoran ternak adalah sumber emisi utama dalam peternakan kuda.
