Abstract

Sangam literature is a repository of culture and civilization. It shows the life thoughts that one should live in life. It is not just living anyway in leading life. Therefore, it is necessary to find meaning for life. The lifestyle of the Sangam people was in such a way they could live comfortably with what they have with them. In the Sangam period, job and earning money was the main occupation of men. Until the leader (Thalaivan) earns money, the beloved (Thalaivi) looks after the house. The money that the leader brings is useful for them and for their dependents. They lived by sharing everything what they have with others. “I never lie to live: I tell the truth to live” was the life principle of the Sangam ancestors of that time. There are many evidences in the Sangam Literature on Sangam life. Nevertheless, the article highlights the life principles of the Sangam people.
